BGP ~ Finite State Machine

It sounds mean, like a terminator, but the BGP FSM is your best friend when it comes to troubleshooting BGP issues. As my studies for BGP go on and i make labs and break them, seeing BGP form a neighbor is great. Seeing it not form and then watch the debugs is fun. As a network engineer, your phone only rings when stuff breaks. So its good to get a good grip of what BGP looks like when it is not working. I made this great diagram, that is a great source of referance for FSM.

BGP States are:

1 – Idle
2 – Connect
3 – Active
4 – OpenSent
5 – OpenConfirm
6 – Established
